Review
This pedometer, the Timex T5E011, is an okay model. It has all the basic
features that you would expect to find in a pedometer of its price range, and features a sleek and attractive design. However, it's not the
most reliable model, and is known to break down more than many other pedometers.
Timex may be known for making high quality watches, but their line of pedometers are only average in quality. The T5E011
seems to be more fragile than most pedometers. If it's dropped on the ground or treated to roughly, sometimes it will lose accuracy or even
cease to function. Most people will never run into these problems, but knowing that it can happen is a bit of a deterrent in wanting to buy
it. Another issue some people have with this model is that the step count can be inaccurate. A lot of the time, this can be corrected
by changing the battery, or just wearing the pedometer in a slightly different manner. The instructions should offer suggestions to
help.
Assuming it doesn't break, then this is a fine pedometer. It can measure up to 100,000 steps in the memory, as well as
calculate distance in either miles or kilometers. Before the T5E011 can figure out the distance you are traveling, first you must enter
your stride measurements. Make sure you accurately enter your stride, or the distance numbers will not be correct. Another nice extra
feature is that it will estimate how many calories you have burned. This is a customized number, because you can enter your age and
weight.
One thing many people like about this pedometer is that it has a pleasant, attractive design. The screen display is also
easy to read, and the interface is intuitive and user-friendly. This pedometer has a spring loaded belt-clip, which makes it attach more
tightly to your belt than a typical pedometer. Whether this is good thing or a bad thing depends on personal preference. It's also
nice that the T5E011 uses a flip-top case, since this keeps the display screen safe from scratches or other damage.
Although this isn't a bad pedometer, it's still a bit more unreliable than one would hope. If you can find a great deal on
one or if it goes on sale, then it might be worth buying. Otherwise, it's probably best to find another pedometer that is higher rated.
